For what it's worth, I also am learning driving a manual on this car after owning and only driving an automatic for 8 years.
One thing that helped me tremendously was removing the clutch return spring about a month ago. This got rid of the uncomfortable "dead zone" that my clutch began to develop and gave it a smooth transition all the way through depression. I do not know if this will help you specifically, but it is worth looking in to.
