Absolutely agreed. That's exactly why I listed subwoofer output level as the number one thing that kills the sound quality of a system. A properly tuned sound quality system, you won't even realize there is a subwoofer playing until you turn it off. I have a 12" Stereo Integrity MKIV that will go in my wife's car under the glove box. It's an xbl2 motor design, so it stays at extremely low distortion levels through its whole usable excursion range. When I tune it for sound quality, you don't even know it's playing.
That's not to say that if you enjoy that kind of thing that it's wrong, as I too enjoy periodically sitting in cars that make it hard to breathe. I'm just saying it's not accurate to the music.
