Go through insurance and bite the bullet to get the process started. Anything that doesn't get recouped by your insurer you can then just file a civil suit and deal with it that way.
A 2k deductible is crazy if you live/work in a major populated area. The risk/reward calculus there just doesn't make any sense. 2k is a mortgage payment.
Just watched the video to and thats crazy someone with a last gen 9-5 would have crappy insurance.
