Still a little too vague, need more specifics to make a recommendation. How long of a trip? How much time do you have? Why March? Why not hwy 1?

You can always head north to OR and WA more in-land via I5 and hit places like Lassen, Burney falls and Crater lake. Or you can head east and go Yosemite and keep going through NV and even UT.
