All I did was move that one pin from pin 8 to pin 9 or whatever that guy said in the earlier posts. I left all those extra wires loose. From my understanding with the exception of the AUX jack there is an entire harness that goes unused in our cars because we do not have steering wheel controls. They just include the whole thing because the bespoke unit is in other scion vehicles that have steering wheel controls.
With just what comes in the box you will get everything to work except for the radio, AUX jack and the USB port next to that AUX jack. You have to spend roughly ~30 bucks to acquire the other harness adapters to get those things to work. Considering they supply you with 2 usb cords that you can just feed into the glove box I really do not see an absolute need to get them unless you just want all the stock ports to work.
Even with the radio harness adapter I still get shit reception and just listen to music on spotify, pandora or my 32gb SD card.
