Bolted down is the only acceptable way to mount a subwoofer box in a car. Think about what happens if you get in an accident, your fault or not. That box becomes a potentially lethal projectile. And yes it's happened before. Last case I remember was about 4 months ago, car pulled out in front of neon and when the neon hit the other car, the box broke through the rear seat and killed the driver.
