To be honest 500 sqft of open space could be tough for a tiny speaker system like this to fill. My basement is around 200 sqft and I used to have a modest Teac Reference 300 mini system with some old JBL ProIII speakers and it was barely enough to do the job imho lol! You might be better off going with a mini system that can accept Wi-Fi streaming.
