Seems like most sticky tires heat cycle out before the tread is gone whereas the RE71R's run out of tread before, or much nearer their heat cycling limit than what we've seen in the past.

If you chuck tires out because the grip is gone, you'll probably be happy with the new 'stones as they'll last just as long if not longer than you're used to with reports of 200+ good runs on them vs other compounds that are done by 100. If you run them until the tread is gone you'll probably be disappointed as that point will come relatively sooner vs say the Direzza's which mine still have plenty of tread left at 15k miles but the grip was gone ages ago.
