Impreza owners seem to think their engines are as stout as the 4G63T, and end up in the same predicament.
If speed doesn't matter too much anymore, I'd really consider checking out a Miata as well. The acceleration characteristic of that car is much better, at least in the first gen Miata) than it is in the FR-S.
