I didn't own the Evo; I was just the one doing the majority of its driving for a few years. At the time, my best friend lost his license, and I had been learning to drive manual in a few racing sims (Colin McRae, and GTR2/Evolution)...so he decided it was the perfect time to teach me. Trial by fire, especially for a very nervous 18-year-old. Even then, the car was pushing ~330HP to the wheels, and I owned an 04 Malibu at the time. The first time I hit boost, it scared the shit out of me, but I got addicted.

Wound up driving that car in its various forms, up until he sold it a few years later...around the time I got my Focus. It was stupid at that point though, pushing 530+ to the wheels, with a triple-disc clutch. You couldn't drive the damn thing if you weren't beating on it. Did spend a lot of nights in the garage with him, working on the car.

I bought the Focus because I wanted something with three pedals to call my own, but at the time I was broke and in grad school. It was a great little car, for what it was, and some of the most fun I've had driving any manual car (more powerful modern hot hatches included).

I'd pick up an Evo myself, but I'm not that stupid. While they're amazing at what they do, they're also very particular...and their owners tend to assume they can be beat on like Subarus. So the Evos left are either destroyed or very highly priced.

Also, while I still enjoy speed, I just don't have a great need for it like I used to. I think I got that out of my system when I was younger...at least as far as the public roads are concerned.
