Yes, that is important. Basically, your suspension is overwhelming your 215 tires, and your engine is too powerful for your 215 tires.

I assume by "standard rims" you mean the stock wheels that come on the car, correct? If so, no, I would not recommend you run tires any wider than 225 on those 7 inch wide wheels. 235 or 245 would be too wide, and the tires will try to fold or roll in underneath the wheel during cornering, making the car feel soft and unstable. It's time to upgrade your wheels I'm afraid. It is a worthy upgrade, and you will not regret it though. All of your upgrades comes down to your tires and how well they can grip the road.
