A base C7 Corvette comes with 245 front and 285 rear at 455 horsepower so roughly 9" wide wheels up front and 10" wide in the rear should do the trick, no body kit required with the right wheel offsets and some fender massaging. Although I would probably shoot for square 255 or 265 on 9" wheels in a quality compound and not bother with mucking around with the fenders.

tl;dr the rocketbunny is mostly for looks, you can fit a good amount of tire on an 86 without mawds and compound > size.
