Taiwan is internationally treated as a country without the official designation due to conditions placed by China on trade. Likewise neither China nor Taiwan has pushed the issue of identifying Taiwan as a province or country due to preference of the status quo allowing trade between the two jurisdictions and Taiwanese de facto status as an independent state.
It is a country without the officially recognized title.
