Had a surreal moment when coming back from work around midnight on Saturday... Took the exit off the highway (one lane) and proceeded to gun it around the turn only to find two deer dead center of the road.

One deer immediately went right while the other froze. At that point I was pretty sure I'd hit at least one of the deer and tried to focus on how I was going to minimize the damage.

I had around the same amount of room to the left and right of the deer that froze (assuming the one that darted right kept going that way), but I guessed and went right myself managing to squeeze between the first deer and the second one that THANKFULLY went left.

I'm still not entirely sure how I ended up missing both of them, and when I got home I double-checked the left side of the car half expecting to see some fur on the left bumper because I could have sworn I grazed the deer that went left...

Weirdest thing of the whole moment was that time seemed to slow... I can still remember the whole situation so vividly... If I was in my old Accord there's no way I would have come out of this situation without having hit one of the deer.

edit:

To provide some context, the exit is very close to a mall and office complex (without a lot of forested areas) so I was extremely surprised to cross path with deer on this section of the highway... I learned my lesson though, no more gunning it around this specific turn... Especially late at night when I'm exhausted...
