It isn't uncommon to do 20 years and then get a contract or government job of six figures. Retire from that after 20 and be done with it.


Also if you have the foresight....which nobody I know of does.... putting a lot in to TSP from initial enlistment and following the other plan = 3 retirement paychecks.
