It's gonna get up in there no matter what. I've always debated whether or not it's better to leave those dang covers off and just rinse of the underside of my cars frequently here in Salt City America (Syracuse), rather than have those plastic pans shield the bottom from fresh water washes. OR.. is it better to just leave the salt all crusted on all winter long, rather than drive it deeper with the pressure from washing it?
The answer is... it doesn't matter. Salt WILL eventually eat your car. Just drive the thing and enjoy it. If you have a car you want to last forever, don't drive it in salt. Buy another car for that.
