And what could be cheesier-looking than the stock decoration on a BRZ, which irks me every time I get into the car? Which is black also, and only marginally improved by throwing $100+ at it for the little chrome spear. Not to mention the (lack of) finish -- it reminds me of stamped retail packaging plastic.
The light strip resembles the swoopy style of all the other lamps on the exterior, it has a nice gloss like the paint, and the overall look remains to my eyes like an upgrade. To each his own!
And BTW, I find the whole "rice" epithet a little cheesy, too. Some of the above posts seem to define a non-functional decoration as "rice." But if we're talking fake fender vents, remember that Detroit invented them -- Buicks have sported them for 65 years, and there's nothing Japanese or Asian about them. Throwing the word "rice" around skates a little close to you-know-what to my ears. But again, to each his own.
