Oi change intervals, in reality, should be dictated by your driving needs and oil consumption and contamination as determined by used oil analysis.
Just because it's not applicable to you doesn't mean it's not applicable to everyone else.

I was going to keep my mouth shut for fear of being called out but I change my oil when I can feel/hear the change in the engine. I can't bring myself to drive a fill of Mobile-1 for more than about 4000 miles.
I can also feel it when my oil is about a third of a quart low. I never miss so I've learned to trust my gut.
