I work for a giant insurance company. I can expense my breakfast on my corporate card, so when I'm on an audit (which is usually four days of every week) I frequently drop by Starbucks. It presents a problem when someone in front of me pays. Then I have to say, "How much is the ticket for the guy behind me?"

"$12.50," says the barrista.

"Nope, too much," I say, because that's outside of our $10 guideline for breakfast. Then I speed away, and the guy in front of me really just bought coffee for a giant insurance company, since they would have paid for my coffee anyway.

The only time I ever pay for the guy behind me is if the guy in front of me paid for mine. Otherwise I might be paying for coffee for a giant insurance company, and who the hell wants that?
