Went through my first belt replacement this weekend - original one was starting to squeak quite a bit and figured it was time to replace it. Based on the original post, I got a bunch of the Gatorback 4060970 (replacement for K060970) at like 5 bucks each on Amazon. Figured I might as well stock up at that price in case I needed more later.
I've got the original pulley (3.48 I believe) and I'm not sure this belt is the right size - has anyone managed to get it on with the original pulley? I know that the original configuration called for the K060975 but I believe since belts were getting trashed, they started going with the K060970. The difference between the two is a little more than half an inch.
For reference, I'm trying to slip it over the alternator pulley as the last move while fully detensioning (that's a huge pain in the ass by the way). I was hitting the limit on the detensioner and there's just no way to squeeze that belt on the alternator.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong?
Edit: I've given up - with the detensioner fully open, there's simply no way that the K060970 is going to fit on there. I tried from the alternator as well as from the smooth pulley by the AC. I'm going to have to go back to the K060975. When Vortech made the switch to the 97 inch belt, perhaps that was only meant for the upgraded pulleys and not the standard 3.48".
Edit2: The 97.5" belt went on without a problem. I guess the 70" is for the smaller pulleys, if you're on the base 3.48, stay with the 97.5" belt. Using the Goodyear/Continental Gatorback 4060975.
