I've been using Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec (now called Castrol Edge) for the past 15 years in all of my cars. Both have done a fine job protecting my cars; never had any engine trouble, and have had four of those cars go WELL over 200K before I sold them for reasons not engine-related.

Having said that, I've been STRONGLY advised by a German car mechanic specialist that Liqui Moly/Lubro Moly is the best stuff out there, and he's pushing me to use it in my Mercedes. I might try it; it's not a ton of money more than the usual suspects (although my ML500 takes NINE @%#@$ quarts of oil... sigh).

Who knows. The best thing to do is change your oil frequently and use a good filter. The BRAND of oil is relatively inconsequential.
