An incident at the port wouldn't show up on a carfax report. I would bet an incident at the dealer that got handled in-house wouldn't show up either.

Detailers use a paint thickness meter to detect the condition of a vehicle's paint - spot re-sprays, etc. They're a little expensive for one-time personal use, but see if you can find a detail shop that would be willing to check this for you. If the paint is 3x as thick on the passenger side vs. the driver's side then there was an undisclosed repair at some point.
