Oh, of course it is. It's fine. Rev match after it's in the lower gear [before engaging the clutch] so your passenger doesn't get whiplash. That's all.
BTW, for those folks knocking on people learning how to drive stick from the interwebs, consider an entire generation who did not have the luxury of experienced parents to teach them proper technique.
