Thermal expansion spring slip joint .. imho redundant. Several headers out there without them and not showing up any problems due that, but it will make production more expensive. Instead of those slip joints i'd rather spend design/manufacturing budget to get longer runners in and shallower angle merges by eliminating those short tubes pre/post cat, or between merge point and header flange.
Also any aftermarket header can sooner or later throw out CEL, even catted ones. Even with spacers for O2 sensor. Hence i wouldn't spend lot of time on trying to avoid that, but would rather concentrate efforts on fine tuning ecu tune to get most power out of headers. Tune will take care about CELs anyway.
