I mainly do hill starts without using the e-brake but I do use it in certain situations ie:
- Steep hill and the car behind me is up my ass
- Wet and Steep hill, usually just end up spinning tires and rolling backwards
- Parallel parking on a steep hill
- Stop and go traffic in the city on a hill
