Gist of any wiring application is this.

Fog lights <------- Switch <---Fuse <----- Power Source.

You can wire the power source to anything that provides enough power. Such as another light source, 12v outlets or in this case, hes using the battery.

The fuse is an insurance so it doesn't fry your stuff if things go wrong, the fuse will be the first to pop and when it does the contacts won't connect so the electricity won't "complete" or go through.

The switch is a switch. The off position cuts off the flow of electricity and the on position completes it so the power can flow.


So essentially what he's doing is drawing the power from the battery. As for the ground, he connected it to the existing connector in the ignition. This is so he has the indicator light up on his dash board. If you want to go around that you can connect it to any ground or negative wire/bare steel you want.
