Finally did this today. The hardest part for sure is getting the rod to rotate. I found it easiest to rotate it a little bit each time I pumped the clutch pedal.
I have it sitting just under the brake pedal and get no grinding. I think I'm going to adjust it a little higher to sit even with the brake pedal height.
If you are worried about trying this, don't be. I'm not too mechanically savvy at all and it took me about 15 minutes
