This is technically true, but only if the sub remains in the same place. Most of the time, it doesnt when you change from forward facing to rear facing.

Corner loaded usually has the most output of locations in the trunk, but it also usually has a huge peak which doesn't sound that good. On the other hand, in the center of the trunk facing upwards usually has the least output of trunk locations, but has much smoother frequency response and sounds better.

Best place I've used is the front passenger footwell. It's been done in a brz with a 12". Not as loud as corner loaded in the trunk, but the bass is up front where it belongs, and has smooth response prior to eq.
