Are dealers skirting Pure Price with sales tax paid, generous trade-in allowances, etc.? What perks are people getting on old stock?

You could try to argue for them to include any of the options available on the car and / or for winter tires (some people here have claimed to had success, best I got was an offer to give me a discount on winter tires)...
If you can find a used one that's probably the way to go, but if you're adverse to buying used and are set on a new FR-S (as opposed to the BRZ*) you might have to bite the bullet...
*BRZ - Dealers were still a bit reluctant to offer discounts but at least you / they are not bound to pure price so if you find the right dealer maybe you'll be able to haggle away to your heart's content.
