Yes, the ball resonator works far better than the can resonator for eliminating rasp, I tried both. As for rattling, only way to know for sure (if its not immediately apparent looking under the car) is to remove the pipe and look for evidence of metal on metal contact. Also check for cracking on the pipe where it mounts to the transmission and on the resonator can support. I had both of these fail and each caused a rattling noise on cold start.

Seriously? I just bought one second hand with the old style can res. Only has 4k miles on it. Thought I was getting a good deal. This makes me feel like S**t. Guess I shoulda researched more into them.
