That's another consideration for going 235/45/17....less width than 245/40/17 (less with by .4" or .2" or about 5mm gained clearance) for clearing the spring perch. Also, taller tire should help with ride comfort. IIRC, regular WRX's come with 235/45/17's as stockers and those put out 268/258 on the crank. Granted, the contact patch on the 235's all get used for putting power down....because AWD.

I am waiting on a Jackson Racing Supercharger and will be running the CARB tune so it shouldn't put an extra 10-20hp/tq that people get from having a custom tune. I'm totally fine with whatever I get with the CARB tune for the supercharger

I could also go 235/40/17....but I'll have to switch over to a Bridgestone RE11 if I go that route.

Thing is, I have another $70 card coming in from America's tire from purchasing asset of tires for the Oddysey. I'll have $140 Ito use off of rebates that I can just plop down at Americas Tires counter. So as much as possible, I would like to get something they already have....though I'm sure they can order the RE11's for me. Another thing is that I'm planning on pulling the trigger on the tires next time they have another promo... so I drop $140 in rebate card (paying for 3 tires out of my pocket and getting 4) and then getting another $70 card in the mail. I'd like to go with this for the best bang for the buck. Heck, I've already spent $1500 out of my pocket for tires already.

Now if I go with 235/40/17 RE11's, I'm going with a 24.4" diameter tires vs 24.6", I lose both on ground clearance and increase the gap between the tire/wheel and fenders. Loss is negligible really. What I gain by going with this is I gain more clearance between the spring perch and tire vs. going with the wider 245/40/17's so I wouldn't have to worry about ever rubbing.

From reading reviews, it's just that the PSS' seems like it's the way to go...given the review between the PSS 245/40/17 and the RE11 in 235/40/17....ratings from tirerack indicate that the PSS's are the better tires. Only issue I have is the risk of rubbing.

If I go with 235's, I might as well go with XXR 17x8.25's to cut down on weight some. Will I still be okay with 245/40/17's with the 17x8.25's? If I go 245's, I may have to go with 18x8.75's so the tires are better supported by the rims. Wider wheels/tires also supposedly decrease the turn in feel...but at this point, I'm thinking...how much more could you take away from going 235 to 245? I know it'll be noticeable coming from 215 to 234/245.

I could also just go with 18x8.75 and 235/40/18...and it'll work just fine. I'd have added more weight in both tires and wheels...though it will give me an option for mounting 245/40/18's later down the line.

I guess if anything, I can add spacers right? But then that increases the poke a smidge....

I'm probably overthinking things and am creating my own dilemma but I just want to do it once by doing it right.

At this point I'm leaning towards going 17x8.25 +35, 235/45/17 for the sake of spring perch clearance/better ride comfort/more ground clearance/less gap between fenders and the tires with the only trade off of the odometer being off by 2mph at 70. Next choice is the 235/40/17 for better spring perch clearance and steering feel vs. the 245/40/17.

Now, if the PSS' came in 235/40/17's....I'd have gone with that as opposed to running that size with RE11's. I'm sure the RE11's are badass tires as well, but the PSS' are my first choice.
Looks like you done the exactly same amount of intense research as me when I was scoping out rims and suspension! lol

I just installed my RCE yellows and got the same spec rims. Haven't mounted it yet but I'm planning to shove the stock tires on for the time being since I have plenty of tread left.

Planning to go with the PSS as well once the stock one wears out. Mine's also a DD so I'm planning 225/45/17s (maybe 235/45/17...undecided still) since I don't think I'll be supercharging the car any time soon. For you, 235/45/17 should be more than safe for clearance. I don't think you should worry at all about the overall weight of the wheel set up and odometer reading since you are supercharging it!
