Jeff,

I ended up using a rubber cone washer to help hold the boot up. I use electrical tape around the shifter rod to make sure the rubber cone washer did not move around (both top and bottom), not all the load is on the electrical tape as the rubber washer is snug on the rod.

But I will take you on that offer on that adapter when you make it
