Arrows are the velocity vectors, curved line with arrows are when cars are turning, springy lines is after collision estimation.
If you take in consideration the speed, I believe the hit is realistic. You have to think, OP was probably just cruising at a speed limit of 45 ( even 35 can do this damage probably). He's not going to think someone would turn left if you see someone coming but the other person did. By the time he saw, it'd be too late to brake to a stop, just reduce some speed maybe, and a slight turn to maybe get a scratch instead but this wasn't the case.

steveholt, I would go to immediate care walk in. Most likely far less wait than emergency room and more tentative care. Tell them it's a vehicle-related accident and they'll work with your auto insurance instead of your health insurance. Your auto insurance will probably refer them to the other driver's insurance.
