These replacement alloys were 57 mm.

The calipers do look like they were close. I would have thought the fitment calculator would have taken that into consideration since it showed I had 12 mm extra clearance with the new rims.

I guess that's to the strut/wheel assembly and not the calipers though.

Bolded part is what matters, any generic fitment calculator won't take spoke design or caliper clearance into account.
