My disrespect of internet news site goes back a ways and is not restricted to car sites. I have had internet access at work since 1993 and at home since 1995 and have watched in horror as totally reliable sites morphed into the equivalent to the tabloids that used to be at grocery store checkouts (if they are still there I don't notice then anymore).
Of course the first sites were text only and the info had to have enough importance two warrant posting so it was almost always totally reliable. Then as things picked up you started to see a bit more filler but many of the more worthy sites still sold magazines and charged subscriptions (both for paper and internet access) so they had to ensure the content was of some quality. Then the whole advertising revenue based on number of clicks concept came into being and the whole thing went to hell and has been getting worse ever since. Now you can cross check your facts in 200 different places but still not be sure it is correct in the end.
Old guy internet rant over.
