I recently heard about the same event but don't know any more about it than you do.
The weekend of Dec 12-13 is the season finale of 86CUP time attack at Laguna Seca, so I think a large number of Bay Area 86s will be heading down to Monterey that weekend. By the way all are welcome to join/watch! Of course for those who don't want to head all the way down to Monterey, this will be a lot closer... but judging by the names of the orgs involved, the intended demographics are totally opposite ends of the spectrum.
