Your choice, but I think your problem is deeper than what you're driving. It's your perception, and, as people have pointed out, how you are so dependent on how people perceive you.

I take it you're a follower and certainly not a leader? After all, you're too concerned about what people think of you and what you own. If I was in your place, I'd laugh at any negative judgement people would give me. Why? Because it's obvious they're idiots, jealous, insecure or all of the above. Sure, everyone has opinions, but what's the point of putting others down for it? In fact, I wear a suit 99.9% of the time. I get looks from people and it's not the, "What a crappy car" kind of look either. It's more of a, "He must have money..."

I don't hide the fact I work at a Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealership. (I'm even wearing my Toyota/Scion jacket that I dished out good money to have custom embroidered!) Not only am I a sales consultant and an internet sales specialist, but I -AM- the Scion Ambassador. And you know what? I'm PROUD of it because I earned it. When someone scoffs when they hear "Scion," I call them out on it. Do YOU even know what's wrong with Scion or are you just going based off of what others say? People who think Scion is a lesser brand of Toyota is obviously uneducated. If anything, since 3 out of 4 of the models Scion carries is built in Japan, I'd say quality (QDR) is BETTER. The Japanese is all about that. Do you know Toyota's foundations? It's safety, durability and reliability. Scion vehicles carry the same EXACT warranties (NOT less) as Toyota. If Scion was the lesser brand, I doubt it would have as good of a warranty.

So, it comes down to YOUR personal issue of perception. FR-S, BRZ, 86, GT86, or ANY other car, it doesn't matter which you really own. If you've convinced yourself that it's no longer a fun car, then that's it. It's over. I'm proud of not only my car, but the fact that I was able to accomplish getting it. Your perception also affects how you carry yourself. Because I love my car and I'm proud to own it, I carry myself in a manner that people look at my car in a positive light. If you act like you have a shitty car, people will see it as a shitty car. If you act like it's the most amazing machine in the world, people will have a more positive impression. But you know what? If you perceive that you have an awesome car, you WON'T care any of the negative stuff people say.
