300zx? I'm old enough to have lusted over the original 240z. Now that car was a game changer. Small, light, nimble--at a time when muscle cars ruled the US market. Even the 260z in 1974 was way smaller than the original 300zx from 1990. The 300zx really got porky and over priced before they came back with the 350Z in the early 2000's.
I would argue it was far from overpriced given it's components. It wasn't a bare bones car like the 240z. Furthermore, not everyone wants a very light, underpowered car that has to be rung out constantly to perform.

I guess I'm an outlier, but I never thought 3200-3300lbs was a "porker" or "boat", as most people seem to refer to it as....3600-3800 sure that's getting heavy but 3200-3300 is still plenty light. Not to mention provides amenities that make for a great DD, and not just a track or toy car.
