Thanks for the replies. If I understand correctly, Jawn, the issue isn't the existence of an additional piece of lighting, it's with an incorrect installation procedure. That's reassuring.
On my other vehicles, I have the radio codes notated for when I have to disconnect the battery when working on the cars. I pored over the FR-S manual and other literature I got from the Toyota dealer last night, looking for mention of the code, but couldn't find it. Will my radio lockup if I disconnect the battery? If it does, where would I find the code prior to disconnecting the battery?
Tcoat - LESS reassuring.. <grin>. You're alluding to the threads I had found previously.. I just can't find'em again. If the fog lights are installed properly on their own circuit, then I'm unsure how the dealer could claim that they caused a malfunction elsewhere, right? After all, the dealer can install'em.. so there has to be a right way to do it, I'm hoping. I'll look into it more before proceeding.
As a side note, I just read through the world-map-of-forum-folks and added mine. Noticed you were from London, ON.. neat. I drove my '84 Honda VF700 Magna from Massena, NY to London and back one day about 20 years ago to look at a Fiat Spider for sale. Prior to heading out, I had forgotten to look at the scale on the map for Ontario compared to NY (no gps back then), and SEVERELY miscalculated the distance; Ontario is BIG. I got back home about 2am after driving many hours in 40 degree (fahrenheit) temps (windchill at 70mph.. well... pretty nasty) frozen to death. Good times!
