Actually I didn't splice, just tinned the wire with solder and stuck it in the plug by the hood latch. I think it was the 5th one down. Went in really easy and secured with small cable tie so it's not coming out.

I did the same thing rather than splice into the harness. Clean, easy to remove without a trace. No risk of cutting the harness wire.
