I did some more thinking..

hatch liftback. the concept seems to have this, and the utility factor would go way up.
taut, direct, tactile steering feel. none of this overboosted shit.
i guess i could read up on this, but i really hope its easy to work on (easily accessible oil filter, drain plug, spark plugs, fuel filter, etc). i like to work on my cars and i hope this one is conducive to that
and yeah.. timing chain or belt?
Yeah, I actually hope it comes with Drive by Wire. Those systems work hand in hand with the engine controls, and some VERY interesting things can be done with them.

The best example I can think of is the upcoming Ford Mustang BOSS. As an option, the car can be outfitted with 2 different sets of keys. One key, when used to turn the car on, uses the normal throttle/ecu mapping, and then there's the "race" key. When you use that key to turn the car on, all the systems boot up in full on attack mode, with the ECU no longer holding onto revs, hyper-aggressive throttle response, different fuel mappings, etc. Booted up in that mode, I don't believe the car passes emmissions standards, but since it's not something that can be turned on/off just within the car (it requires a separate key), it's legal and does not affect the EPA tests.

While something like that will almost undoubtedly NOT make it into the FT-86, if the car has a drive by wire system, a competent tuner could program their own version of it, and make it selectable using the inside controls in the car, just like ECU tuners can let you select a profile for your car. I have my car chipped, and using the cruise controls, can select between three different settings: Stock, 91 Octane tune, and 93 Octane tune. Including more aggressive throttle mappings in a tune like that would be a piece of cake, assuming the car came with Drive by Wire. It would also mean that when I didn't want my car to behave like a rabid werewolf, I could just leave it in stock mode.
