I'm pretty sure this is more of a wheel/tire topic than a DIY since there is nothing being done here other than buying it. These are chair tips from Lowes, sku #66944. They had some flat ended ones from Ace Hardware but I like the rounded end of these better. Both looked good and I'm sure Home Depot even has a different one too. They just have to be 3/4" and it's all good. They won't come off unless you really pull hard and even if one does manage to fly off. They are under $2 for a pack of 4. Sure if you get on your hands and knees and inspect them you will see it's just a plastic cap on there but I was not going to spend $40-50 for average quality black lug nuts since the chrome ones were new and I just want black ones instead. It was either Mcgard or nothing if buying a whole new set since it seems Mcgard is the only lug that has a lifetime warranty. Not that they will last a lifetime but if they are putting it in writing, they put out a good product and then most likely that finish is going to last a while rather than the year before chipping I keep reading about other colored lug nuts. The Mcgards are roughly $125 for the set so I tried this out instead to see what happens. If this lasts though , it will be $9 well spent.
