We had some emergency advises this year though to not go outside at all. One area close to us was at 120 degrees this year.

Last year was crazy in Cali... specially SoCal. Temp was going up & down like rollercoaster!

Huh, where I live, studded tires are allowed... course, only End of Oct to start of March (iirc). Some of the canyons, it's required to have chain & AWD/4WD.
But again... where I live, it's famous for snow, so I guess that might be the reason why.
