Yeah, I had them welded because even with the included band clamps they were still leaking, so I figured it was the best way to stop the leaks. Does make it inconvenient to install/uninstall though.
I re-read my original post and just in case there's any confusion, it does bolt up to the OEM frontpipe just like any standard catback would.
