I'm going to test this thing out at an AutoX event tomorrow. Will report back.

Certainly won't work for everyone or every situation but it might be useful in cases where one isn't logging and just wants to focusing on driving and doesn't want to worry about brain farting and messing up the Pedal Dance.

The only problem I have is that I have no clue whether I need to plug this thing in and then manually disable the VSC/TRAC via the console buttons or whether this thing is just plug and play. Maybe the dash lights will automatically go Amber, maybe they won't.

I basically consider this thing to be more 'fun' oriented and less 'competition' oriented.

Serious competition track stuff is a whole different ballgame. If I'm testing or competing then yeah, I need my OBDII port for logging in which case yeah, this thing becomes completely useless. Being serious also means a whole ton of things to worry about and running through the whole PITA Trackday pre-run checklist, by which time the car is always warm enough to do the pedal dance anyways:

- Start car
- Connect the OBDII dongle
- Mount & connect the Android phone and boot up the Torque app
- Check Torque OBDII connection
- Start up external GPS
- Mount iPhone 'just so'
- Boot up Harry's Lap Timer on the iPhone
- Set the track in HLT
- Check the GPS connection strength in HLT
- Mount, check and set up any GoPros as needed
- Do the pedal dance

Going a bit off topic here but if anything somebody ought to come up with a cheap and easy way of simplifying the whole data logging and pre-session setup routine. Ideally there'd be a single unit which handles car settings + OBDII data logging + accurate G forces and lap timing and which also integrates well with post run analysis software of some sort.

One of my main pet peeves with logging and competition is that beyond a certain point the whole pre-session setup process tends to detract from the actual driving - any attention given to your data logging setup while running a session is less attention given to your actual driving in the moment.
