repost from "unofficial rpm thread"
there are two videos contained here. My experience as of today.......
TougeSlide, 2015 FR-S, 4,560 miles, 7092xx, 2 weeks without car so far. 3 repair attempts. Orlando Florida
I bought my car 3/5/15 with 6 miles on it from Central Florida Toyota
I started experiencing the rough idle with less than 2k miles on the car.
The CEL and SL came on for the first time at 4,560 miles on 9/6/15
Started taking car to Toyota of Orlando Dealer
Codes :P000A and C1201
Dealer placed me in rental from 9/7/15 to 9/8/15
Codes :P000A and C1201
Swapped intake OCV valve bank 1 and road test 15 miles
Stated they could not recreate the idle hunting issue
Stated the fuel pump chirp is a "characteristic" of the FRS
CEL and SL came on the second time on 9/15/15
I was recording video of the idle hunting when the lights came back on. Showed to dealer.
4,809 miles
Placed in rental car from 9/15/15 to 9/17/15
Codes: P000C
Replaced OCV bank 2 VVTI
Cel and SL came on for the 3rd time 2 days later, 9/19/15
4,926 miles
I was recording video of the idle hunting again when this happened
Took the car to dealer again today, was placed in rental car 9/20/15
Am dealing with Managers at this point. Sending certified mail to Toyota tomorrow to start the Lemon Law process.
9/22 - Called Toyota customer service. They are aware of the situation. A representative is suppose to contact me in 24 hours.
Sent lemon law paperwork to manufacturer.
9/23 - car still at the dealer, was told they are replacing the bank 1 cam gear. Waiting on parts. Should have been in yesterday but they still have not arrived.
dealer just called and asked if their tech could drive it home for the night to try and re create the issue. They are swapping OCV valves again. Cam gear on back order.
Later same day, contacted by David at the Corporate office. Offered me extended warranty. Told him I do not trust the car or it's internals and that Lemon Law paper work has been started. He said he understood and wanted to make things right and was sorry for the situation. Said he was going to "make some calls and light some fires" and that he was going to get regional involved.
9/24 - no contact whatsoever. Called Dealer and Corporate office, no one is "able to take my call"
9/25 - Dealer finally called back. They told me the cam gear should be in the car tonight, but they want to keep it another two days to check it and make sure everything is ok.......
no one has addressed compensation or the lemon law...
9/28 - no word from the dealer or from Toyota since the 25th.
same day. Called Toyota, Case worker on phone. Called me back, said he was in touch with the dealership. Dealership still has not replaced cam gear. Manager out until Wednesday (9/30). Asked specifically if they had received my lemon law paperwork, he said he does not deal with that but can get the case started. I asked him to proceed. He said I would get an "acknowledgement letter" within 7 to 10 business days, then they would start a review that would take up to 30 days.
LOOKS LIKE I'M OUT ANOTHER MONTH!!!!!
9/29 - Dealership manager finally contacted me. Asked me to authorize extended road test, let the tech drive it home again. I said I was uncomfortable the first time, and asked:
What is his driving record? - "clean, techs can't have more than one ticket"
How far is the car being driven? - "round trip about 40 miles"
Will it be garage kept? - "no, kept in a driveway at a private residence"
Who's insurance does this fall under? - "Ours (the dealers)"
I expressed my concerns over being without the car so long, the internal engine failure, and everything listed above, his only response was "understood"
9/30 - No Contact from Dealer or Toyota. I called the Manager in the afternoon. He said he didn't know where the car was, and asked to call me back. When he did he said all should be well, but Toyota wants to take if for another drive. He said he would call back in an hour.
He didn't
I called back 3 and a half hours later. 3 times. I finally got ahold of him. he said the car was done, but couldn't tell me what had happened.
Now the best part.
His tech that took my car home took toll roads. He didn't pay them. Now I have 4 tickets on the way.
Going in to pick up my vehicle tomorrow.
Toyota corporate still not in contact. Was told today that my case has been escalated as high as it can go.
Days without car as of 9/30/15 = 15
