Since my friend got a 996C4/3.4 it seems like the cost of his consumables / repair bills are on average 3x the cost of my old MkV GTI. Even a scanner for Porsche comparable to VAGCOM/VCDS is like 700 bucks ouch!

Owning an out of warranty EA113 that eats cam followers + an occasionally wonky DSG kept me awake at night for almost 3 yrs (had the car new for almost 7 yrs). After the front subframe bolts were starting to backout on their own I replaced the car with a BRZ. Now almost two years later and it has never needed anything out of the ordinary, which is kinda refreshing.
