Afterwards nobody is allowed to put the car into gear and must race this way. The momentum of the course gets the car eventually to speeds of ~60-70 mph. Obviously this tests your braking and cornering capabilities. If you brake too late you'll probably spin out disqualifying you from the race. If you brake too early and too much you'll start to lose all your momentum eventually slowing your car to a stand still!

I like that! May have to pull out the 'ol 360 to give it a shot!
My buddy and I would play split screen on the mountain every day only going to full screen when we'd try to set new records... And we'd do pretty much the exact opposite of you guys where, instead of coasting, you have to race the whole time down the mountain with the throttle pinned and so the only way to keep a modicum of control was to figure out some combination of shift-locking and e-braking while the whole time you're bouncing off the rev limiter.
My personal favorite hijink was whenever we'd tandem and you get the perfect drift in which only throttle input is needed, you show off by taking your left hand off the controller and imitate holding your hand out a car window like those crazy real life drifters do.
