I did try the larger LED's but they did not work (left one original LED installed to verify if I soldered backwards.

On a different note, were you able to replace the LED in the start button? If you were, how did you get to the LED to replace it? A friend of mine and I could not figure out how to get to it without breaking the assembly. Thank you in advance for your help!
