Can I pay you to go along the first time you take it in for warranty service! I would not give them any warning!
You would fit right in with the Grassroots motorsports crowd. Those guys hold a yearly competition where the total build budget for the car must not exceed the year. ie $2015 would be the budget for this year. The car must run a drag race, a slalom and do a "Concourse" show. The fast cars are into the 10 second bracket on the drag-strip and some look pretty impressive on the solo course and the show field.
As to swaps in general, they are kind of a non-rational thing to start with. You do them cause you want to and nothing/no-one else really matters. You point out a very real fact when you mention that your are currently burned out. Just as you want the money and time to stop going into the car, you hit the road and the debug/development phase. Most first time builders are not financially and/or emotionally prepared for this.
